Following the very successful 2008 release of Say Something Real, Lou Solomon is back, publishing her second book with SPARK Publications. Her latest book, Freeing Your Radical Hero: Fighting the Impostor Mindset, is a little book about a very big topic. Inspired by Lou’s TEDx Talk, “The Surprising Solution to the Impostor Syndrome,” the book is filled with honesty, answers, and exercises. Her purpose, in an accessible, down-to-earth way, is to help others fight the impostor mindset – a journey that can be both humbling and exhilarating.
We asked Lou to answer a few questions about the book and her journey as an author.
Lou’s Advice to Authorpreneuers
You don’t have to know how to publish. That’s not your job. Your job is to write. The good people at SPARK Publications will do the rest.
What surprises did you encounter while writing and publishing your book?
I knew I would have to be vulnerable if I wanted to share what I’ve learned about fighting the impostor mindset. What I didn’t expect was the gift of more space – more freedom.
What role did the SPARKlers play in publishing your book?
SPARK Publications was my partner, coach, and cocreator. The team at SPARK listened deeply, captured my vision for the book, and created something so amazing it grabs me every time I look at it.
Do you have any advice for other authorpreneurs?
Write – just write. Trust yourself and know that when you’re writing from the right place, the book will come through.
What’s next for you?
I have begun work on my next (and third) book with SPARK Publications entitled Real Influence Is Cracked.
